Privacy

Which data arise when visiting these pages – and which do not.

The German version is binding.

This website is built so that as little data as possible arises: no cookies, no tracking, no analytics, no fonts, scripts or images from third-party servers, no contact form and no user accounts. What is processed nonetheless is described here.

2. Hosting and server log files

The website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. When you call up the pages, your browser transmits technically necessary data to the server, which may be stored there in log files:

  • IP address of the requesting device
  • date and time of access
  • page or file called up, amount of data transferred, status code
  • previously visited page (referrer), browser and operating system

STRATO anonymises the IP address when storing it, so it cannot be traced back to you. The data are not combined with other data.

3. Storage in the browser

Some functions remember something only locally in your browser. This information is not transmitted to the server or to third parties:

EntryStoragePurpose
chessophos-designlocalStoragethe chosen design (Morning light or Night watch).
chessophos-pages-1Cache Storagecopies of the pages of chessophos you opened (service worker) – so they also work offline and as an app. These are only pages of this website, no information about you; the oldest drop out.
chessophos-files-1Cache Storagecopies of the scripts, styles and pictures of this website (service worker), for the same reason.

Entries in localStorage and in the Cache Storage remain stored until you delete them.

The storage serves solely to provide the function you use (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete these data at any time in your browser's settings (“clear site data”); the pages then keep working, only without remembered settings.

4. Contact by e-mail

If you write me an e-mail, I process your details (address, content of the message) only to answer your enquiry (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) and delete them as soon as they are no longer needed for this and no statutory retention obligations apply.

5. External links

Some links lead to other websites, such as the other sites of the family, Wikipedia, Figshare or The Week in Chess. Only when you click such a link do you leave these pages; the privacy notices of the respective provider apply there.

6. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR). Please contact the address given above.

You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the authority of your place of residence or the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW), Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, poststelle@ldi.nrw.de, www.ldi.nrw.de.
